Pistachios - Long Akbari Pistachios, 250 gm

Pistachio nut (Pistacia vera L.) is one of the most delicious and nutritious nuts in the world. Roasted and salted or unsalted pistachio nuts are usually directly consumed as snack foods. The non-split pistachio form is used in the production of pistachio oil, pistachio butter, pistachio chocolate and pistachio halva. 

• Iran, the United States and Turkey are the major producers of pistachios, together accounting for 83% of the world production in 2013Additionally, pistachios are the only tree nut to contain nutritionally significant amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin.  
• American-grown pistachios are richer in lutein and zeaxanthin whereas Turkish pistachios have a higher amount of calcium and Iranian pistachios have more linoleic acid.
• Storage: To better maintain the freshness and quality, pistachios should be stored in air-tight containers. Shelled pistachios can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Unshelled pistachios can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 months or freezer for up to a year.
